There are actually 365 islands in the Exuma cays. We'll be showing you a few of them, but you'll also have a few days to explore on your own. Below you will find some of the cool things we have done there that we know you would like, but honestly you can't really go wrong doing anything the Bahamas has to offer.
Here's what we know...
We went to Exuma two years ago and liked it so much that we wanted to share it with all of you. Having our wedding there is the best excuse we could come up with to get you all there at the same time. Below is some of the stuff we enjoyed while being there the first time. There's still so much more to do there, but at the same time it's great to do nothing and just sit on the beach. Make your own decisions, you're adults.
Hoopers Bay turtles
On Great Exuma there is a beach known as Hooper's Bay. It's probably a 20 minute drive from the house. Hooper's Bay is cool because sea turtles hang out there. We had best luck seeing them in the evening, right before sunset. Last time we got to swim with them with no one else around.
Stocking Island
You can get here from a ferry that leaves from Georgetown a bunch of times each day. This is one of our favorite places to visit and is home to Chat 'N' Chill beach bar where you can feed wild sting rays. We will be taking you all there one day, but it's definitely worth visiting more than once. There is great snorkeling here.
Tropic of Cancer Beach
One of the most famous beaches on the island of Little Exuma. Pretty sure this one is only a few minutes from the house. It is the longest beach on Little Exuma and crosses the Tropic of Cancer meridian. Absolutely worth swinging by.
Swimming Pigs
Exuma is known for the swimming pigs of the Bahamas. This is what made us go to Exuma in the first place. It's a pretty cool experience, but probably not a great idea with little tiny kids. If you want to check it out we would recommend using Exuma Water Sports. Click Me
Coco Plum Beach
This is that beach you may have seen pictures of with the wooden swings in the ocean. We went last time and it was pretty ok. Not our favorite beach, but you aren't us so maybe it will blow your tits off.
Georgetown
The biggest town on Exuma. There are a few stores here and some souvenir shops. You'll drive through it when you go to the houses because there is only one road and it goes through the town. This is where we know there is an ATM.
Straw Market
The Straw Market is cool becuase it's run by locals who sell some handmade souvenirs like hand woven straw hats, baskets, handbags and other little bobbles. We had fun poking around there last time. It's located in Georgetown near the ferry to Stocking Island and kind of across from the Peace and Plenty Hotel.
