Why did the fish blush?

Liz & Doug.

Because it saw the ocean's bottom.

Obviously there is a lot of great seafood in the Bahamas. They bring the fish right out of the ocean into the kitchen when you order it. If you want conch they swim out, get one and crack it open for you. There's also chicken and other stuff like that, but it isn't as exciting. If you "don't like fish" we suggest you sack up and give it a shot. Check out the list below of some places we ate and loved.

Eat the Conch, you won't regret it!

Conch is a slimy mollusk with a cool looking shell. It tastes great. Cracked Conch is like a really good chicken finger, but not chicken because it's a mollusk. A mollusk finger. Also, there is Grouper, which is Liz's favorite.

Here are some places to eat that don't suck.

Chat 'N' Chill

You need a boat to get here, but it's worth it. This is on Stocking Island and we will be taking you there for the Sunday pig roast. They also have a ton of other good food and a Conch Ceviche stand right at the water's edge. Check out their site. Click Me

Santana's

Little open air beach restaurant that is pretty close to the house. They will be catering the welcome dinner Saturday night. Jonathan Depp says it's good and you don't need to wear manscara to see he's right. Click Me

Exuma Market

This is an important one. It's really the only grocery store on the island. It's located in Georgetown. They have basically anything you need, but they will also do custom orders. You just have to let them know about 3-4 weeks ahead of time. We will be placing an order with them and have the houses stocked with some stuff upon your arrival. If you need extra special stuff you should make a list and place an order or let us know and we can work it out. Here is their facebook. Click Me

Fish Fry

The Fish Fry is just a collection of little restaurant shacks that make really awesome Bahamian food. Some you can sit at and others are more like shed/food truck things. We have sampled several of them and they are all good. It's just outside of Georgetown. You'll have to Google this one if you want to learn some more.

Shirley's

Shirley's is at The Fish Fry and is our favorite place to eat on the island. Everything there is good. EVERYTHING! It's small with a few tables inside and a handful outside. Nothing beats ordering a Grouper that you just watched someone catch. She has a facebook page you can check out. Click Me

Driftwood Cafe

A small cafe located in Georgetown. We had breakfast there almost everyday. Levi is crazy for their blueberry scones. They also serve lunch and other stuff. Located across from the Peace and Plenty Hotel. Click Me

Plus 39

An Italian restaurant located in the Peace and Plenty Hotel. The least casual place on the list. If you want something other than local Bahamian food and seafood then you should check this place out. Defiitely more expesive than the other places and you may need a reservation. They have a website. Click Me
